Appropriately enough, we saw our first moose on the morning of our first full day in Alaska, on the Glenn Highway just south of Tok:

Some snow-capped mountains in the distance after lunch in Glennallen:

The closer we got to Anchorage, the closer the mountains got to the road:

Come visit us. Why? Because you can see glaciers from the road. Here's the Matanuska Glacier, two hours north of Anchorage:

Another reason to visit us? You'll be close to Wasilla. If you stay there and become mayor, then you'll be prepared to be the Vice President of the United States:

Subaru was pretty grubby by the time we arrived at our temporary apartment:

But we had made it, and on schedule at that. Before we began, our landlord told us that we needed to be to the apartment before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19 to get the keys. We put our car in park a few minutes after 5. For a guy who really digs schedules and plans, you can imagine how much of a treat that was.
To recap: 12 days, 4,539 miles, 5 time zones (Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, and Alaska), 8 states (Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and Alaska), two Canadian provinces (Alberta and British Columbia), and one Canadian territory (Yukon):

Pretty cool trip, huh?
Tok to Anchorage - 318 miles
