Our original plan was to go to the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago on August 8, then return to Indianapolis the next morning to pack up our car and say goodbye to Lindsay's family. Lindsay's dad, looking for a way to get rid of us sooner, suggested that we would save a lot of time and miles if we were to just make Lollapalooza one of our stops. As such, we began Saturday by moving the last of our stuff out of our apartment and into our car. After I worked up a heavy morning sweat doing that, we had an early lunch with Lindsay's parents and her brother James. Here we are just before we left (notice Lindsay's firm grip on the multi-pound bag of peanut M & Ms, a parting gift from her dad):

Official Mile 0 - getting on I-65 in Indianapolis:

We were only on the road for sixty miles before we made our first stop to say goodbye to our friend Jamie in Lafayette:
We made it to Ogden Dunes just in time to catch a South Shore train to Chicago for Lollapalooza. We spent most of the day with some of my law school friends, but we were also able to spend some time with my high school friend Chad (the first of seven of my groomsmen we saw during our trip):

The main event of the day (at least for me) was the Tool show. Let me know if you find my socks, because Tool rocked them off:

I abandoned the rest of the group and spent the entire show in a mosh pit four rows from the stage. After the morning sweat and afternoon temperatures in the 90s, you can imagine the hot mess I was after working up a generous mosh pit sweat. Here we were after the show:

After leaving the festival, we headed back to northwest Indiana and spent the night in Crown Point with our friends Nick and Betsy (Nick being the second of my seven groomsmen we would see). They let us use their shower, even though I was the second sweatiest person at Lollapalooza, just behind Lindsay. True friends.
